Hoof Injury Scuttles Hay List Galaxy Bid
The Lazarus-like return of crack sprinter Hay List has faced a minor derailment, with the Statue of Liberty gelding scratched yesterday afternoon from Saturday's Gr1 The Galaxy (1100m) at Rosehill due to a hoof infection. With the defection of Hay List, who was set to lump 59.5kg, Sea Siren has been left as top-weight on just 56kg, leaving only a 4kg spread of between 52-56. While Hay List's trainer John McNair plans to proceed to the Gr1 T.J.Smith for a likely clash with Black Caviar, NSW stewards have advised that Hay List will need veterinary clearance before being allowed to race again.
