Botti Sweet On Sugar Boy

Thursday, 4th July 2013

Gr3-winning Sugar Boy (Authorized-Steel Princess, by Danehill), purchased by leading owner Sheikh Mohammed Bin Khalifa Al Maktoum, will move to the stables of trainer Marco Botti, reports 1skysports.com. Current trainer Patrick Prendergast reported that the colt pulled up "very sore" after the Gr1 Irish Derby, and Botti said: "He's an exciting horse, as he showed when he won at Sandown, and we are lucky to get him. I'm not sure when he will arrive. They are arranging things with the shipping company at the moment. It could be the end of this week or the start of next week. There is no point making any plans until he arrives at the yard and we have time to reassess him, but we will obviously bear in mind what happened on Sunday and will probably try to keep him away from fast ground." Sugar Boy has recorded 4 wins (including the Gr3 Classic Trial Stakes over 2000m, Leopardstown's Listed Eyrefield Stakes) & 3 placings (including runner-up in last start's Gr3 Ballysax Stakes at Leopardstown) from 9 starts for £90,899 earnings.
