Four Years Between Drinks For Mic Mac

Friday, 5th July 2013

Talented but injury-plagued galloper Mic Mac (Statue of Liberty-Amandine, by Tertian) will be out to prove his winnings days are not behind him when he contests the $100,000 Listed Civic Stakes (1350m) at Rosehill tomorrow. The 7YO has endured well-documented problems with his fragile legs that have interrupted his career and contributed to his four-year hiatus from the winners stall, with his last victory being the Gr2 Memsie Stakes in August 2009. However, trainer Paul Messara believes the veteran still retains a zest for racing as evidenced by his last-start improved showing in the Listed June Stakes at Randwick when 4th to She's Clean. Mic Mac thus far has 7 wins (including the Gr2 Hobartville Stakes, Gr2 Memsie Stakes & Listed Aurie's Star Handicap) and 4 placings (including the Gr1 TJ Smith Stakes, Gr1 Stradbroke handicap, Gr2 Dato Tan Chin Nam & Gr2 Schweppes Stakes) from 22 starts for $866,438 earnings.
