Monsun Trio Attracts Interest In BBAG Catalogue
Three yearlings from the second last crop of German Champion Sire Monsun (Konigsstuhl-Mosella, by Surumu) will grace the catalogue of the BBAG Yearling Sale to be held on Friday 30 August, reports racingpost.com. Monsun, who died in September 2012 aged 22, after suffering blindness and other neurological problems, has left 4 individual Gr1 winners this season already. A colt out of a half sister to Monsun's Gr1 winners Schiaparelli, Samum and Salve Regina is one of the highlights of the 242-strong catalogue. A dual Gr1 winner as a 3YO, Monsun has sired 97 stakes winners, including 18 Gr1 winners. The sale will take place prior to the Gr1 Grosser Preis von Baden race day. Other sires in the BBAG catalogue among the proven ranks with lots on offer include Areion, Dansili, Exceed And Excel, Montjeu, Oasis Dream and Shamardal, alongside Manduro and Samum, both stallion sons of Monsun, as well as emerging sires Le Havre, Lope De Vega, Makfi, Mastercraftsman, Paco Boy, Soldier Of Fortune and New Approach, already the sire of two Classic winners from his first three-year-old crop. The catalogue for next month's sale is now available online.
