Vinery Secures Casino Prince & Husson
Hunter Valley-based Vinery Stud has announced it will stand Gr1-winning stallion Casino Prince (Flying Spur-Lady Capel, by Last Tycoon) and unbeaten classic-winning stallion Husson (Hussonet-Villa Elisa, by Roy) for the 2013 breeding season. Casino Prince is now the sire of 4 individual group winners, with his oldest crop only 3YOs, headlined by Vinery's recently retired 4-times Gr1 winner All Too Hard (Casino Prince-Helsinge, by Desert Sun). Casino Prince was crowned Champion First Season sire in 2011/12, and as a racehorse, he retired with 5 wins (including Gr1 Chipping Norton Stakes, Gr2 Alister Clark Stakes, Gr3 Skyline Stakes) and 7 placings (including 2nd in Gr1 Australian Guineas, Gr1 Doncaster H, 3rd in Gr1 Australian Cup, Gr1 All Aged Stakes and Gr1 George Ryder Stakes) from 24 starts and earnings of $1,166,500. Husson's oldest crop are 4YOs and include 8 stakes winners, headlined by Gr3 winner Lucky Hussler and promising Listed winner Peron. Husson won all his 5 starts (including Gr1 GP Raul y Raul E Chevalier and Gr1 GP Gran Criterium at 2 and Gr1 GP Internacional de Las Americas at 3). Vinery's Peter Orton commented: "Both stallions will add great depth to the Vinery team. Real success can only ever be measured by results on the racetrack and these stallions have clearly demonstrated their capabilities. As sires in their first season at stud they respectively took out both the First Season Sire titles by Earnings and Winners. Both stallions have outstanding crops coming through after receiving large books of mares over the past three to four years, including some of the best mares in the Patinack broodmare band." Casino Prince will stand the 2013 season at a fee of $22,000 while Husson will stand at $16,500.
