Tuesday, 9th July 2013

Beautifully related filly Moretti (More Than Ready-Tycoon Joy, by Last Tycoon) will make her debut in a 2YO maiden handicap (1400m) at Kembla Grange today. Moretti is a half-sister to triple Gr1-winning gelding Bentley Biscuit. Trained and part-owned by Gai Waterhouse, Bentley Biscuit (Peintre Celebre-Tycoon Joy, by Last Tycoon) won 12 races from 23 starts including the Gr1 TJ Smith Stakes (1200m), Gr1 All-Aged Stakes (1400m) & Gr1 BTC Cup (1200m) for $1,446,725 earnings. Following his BTC Cup victory he travelled overseas competing in the Gr2 King's Stand Stakes & Gr1 July Cup at Royal Ascot where he failed to live up to his best form. His best performance on foreign soil was a 7th behind champion French sprinter Marchand d'Or in the Gr1 Prix Maurice de Gheest at Deauville. Moretti was a $100,000 purchase for Blandford Bloodstock at the 2012 Inglis Australian Easter Yearling Sale from the draft of Segenhoe Stud. Moretti hails from the famous Denise's Joy family which boasts, among others, Gr1 winners More Joyous, Tuesday Joy & Sunday Joy.
