Short Let-Up For Rising Star Al Kazeem
Saturday's UK Gr1 Coral Eclipse-winner Al Kazeem (Dubawi-Kazeem, by Darshaan) will miss the prestigious King George VI & Queen Elizabeth Stakes (2400m) at Ascot on July 27 in preference for assignments later in the year, reports sportinglife.com. The Gr1 King George VI & Queen Elizabeth Stakes is one of the feature events of the English summer flat season that has been won by turf luminaries such as Nijinsky (1970), Mill Reef (1972), Shergar (1981), Dancing Brave (1986), Nashwan (1989), Montjeu (2000), Galileo (2001) and most recently Danedream (2012). However, trainer Roger Charlton explained there were no firm plans at this stage for the triple Gr1-winner. "The King George is out," stated Charlton. "He will be taken out of that race on Tuesday at the forfeit stage… we will give him a break now and decide what we want to do nearer the time for various autumn targets." Al Kazeem holds entries in the Gr1 Juddmonte International at York & the Gr1 Irish Champion Stakes at Leopardstown but the Gr1 Prix de L'Arc de Triomphe is his main target.
