Dunlop Flags Snow Fairy Warning
UK trainer Ed Dunlop has issued an ominous warning suggesting that outstanding race mare Snow Fairy could "be even better this year", reports racingpost.com. Dunlop's assessment of the 6-time Gr1-winning 6YO is based on a brilliant piece of work she submitted at Sandown earlier this year. The richly talented Snow Fairy (Intikhab-Woodland Dream, by Charnwood Forest) has been a constant challenge for Dunlop as she has proven to be quite susceptible to injury throughout her brilliant career. Once the highest rated mare in the world, she has raced with honours both in Europe and internationally with 8 wins from 21 starts for £4,004,374 earnings. Her elite victories have included the Gr1 English Oaks, Gr1 Irish Oaks, Gr1 Queen Elizabeth II Commemorative Cup in Japan (twice), Gr1 Cathay Pacific Hong Kong Cup & a last-start Gr1 Irish Champion Stakes win at Leopardstown in September. "It's no secret she has been very difficult to train, but judged on an electrifying piece of work she did at Sandown earlier this year I would suggest she could be even better this year," commented Dunlop. The trainer noted he has entered Snow Fairy "in everything", but that she won't race "until she's ready to run".
