Irish Hoop Banned For Showing Too Much Drive
Wednesday Odd-Spot: Authorities failed to find their sense of humour in Ireland when jockey Danny Mullins did something that belongs in the vault of 'Ripley's Believe It Or Not'. According to racingpost.com, after pulling up his mount with a broken leg at Bellewstown, "Mullins hopped aboard [the raceday ambulance] and drove the vehicle back to the weigh room area". Stewards found him guilty of breaching Rule 272, effectively behaving in a manner "prejudicial to the integrity, conduct and good reputation of racing" and gave him a 14-day holiday for his efforts. Mullins is appealing the punishment.
