JRHA Select Weanlings: Average Rises 10%
The influence of former champion racehorse and leading Japan sire Deep Impact continued to be felt at yesterday's weanling session of the annual JRHA Select Sale in Japan. Following his dominance of the yearling session on the opening day of the 2-day sale, Deep Impact was responsible for 7 of the 10 top-price weanlings. Overall, the day again produced gains in both turnover and average over 2012's stats. With the clearance rate unchanged at 75 percent, the day's average was up 10 percent and the aggregate rose to ¥5,604,000,000 (A$60.42 million). The combined sale aggregate for both days, meanwhile, leapt to ¥11,799,900,000 (A$127.25 million).
