Thursday, 11th July 2013

The Australian-owned UK galloper Dandino (Dansili-Generous Diana, by Generous) will miss today's Gr2 Princess Of Wales's Stakes (2400m) at Newmarket to prepare for an overseas campaign aimed at the Melbourne Cup, reports racingpost.com. Trainer Marco Botti has revealed plans to run the 6YO entire in the American St Leger at Arlington in the US next month en route to the $6.2 million Gr1 Melbourne Cup (3200m) on 5th November. Dandino, winner of the Gr2 Jockey Club Stakes (2400m) at Newmarket & the Gr3 September Stakes (2400m) at Kempton, is managed by Australian Thoroughbred Bloodstock and will follow an identical Cup path to stable mate Jakkalberry who won last year's US St Leger on his way to finishing 3rd behind Green Moon in the Melbourne Cup.
