Thursday, 11th July 2013

At Pontefract in the UK, the Aga Khan's new NZ Brighthill Farm shuttler recruit, Gr1-winning Azamour (Night Shift-Asmara, by Lear Fan), sired a black-type winner when 4YO mare Gifted Girl (Azamour-Hoodwink, by Selkirk) scored a 2-lengths victory for trainer Paul Coles in the £40,000 Listed Pipalong Stakes (8 furlongs) for mares 4YO+, over fellow 4YO mares Ladys First (Dutch Art-Like A Dame, by Danehill) & Ultrasonic (Mizzen Mast-Quickfire, by Dubai Millennium). Consistent Gifted Girl took her record to 4 wins & 4 placings (including last start's runner-up in the Gr3 Princess Elizabeth Stakes at Epsom Downs) from 11 starts for £85,517 earnings. Azamour, a 4-time Gr1 winner, stands his first season in New Zealand for NZ$12,000 + GST.
