Thursday, 11th July 2013

Top US filly Emollient (Empire Maker-Soothing Touch, by Touch Gold) is expected to have six rivals in Saturday's US$350,000 Gr1 American Oaks (2000m) at Hollywood Park, reports horseracingnation.com. The winner of the Gr1 Ashland Stakes at Keeneland in April, Emollient will be attempting to bounce back after striking trouble last start in the Gr2 Black-Eyed Susan Stakes at Pimlico when finishing 6th. Owned by Juddmonte Farms and trained by Hall of Fame inductee Bill Mott, Emollient has established herself as one of the best of her generation with 3 wins from 7 starts for US$446,900 earnings. Saturday's 12th running of the American Oaks (for 3YO fillies) will see Scarlet Strike, Wittgenstein, Sarach, Topic, Betty Lou & Macha line up against Emollient who goes into the race as the highest rated contender.
