Tattersalls July Day-2: 260,000 Guineas Durand
On Day-2 of the UK's 2013 Tattersalls July Sale, a Qatari trainer was again to the fore (following the opening day's topper Miblish going to the bid of compatriot Gassim Mohammad Ghazali) with Ibrahim Al-Malki defying all others to secure Durand (Motivator-Rouge Dancer, by Elusive City) for 260,000 guineas. The twice-raced 3YO colt, who ran away with his Maiden by 3.5-lengths for then trainer John Joseph Murphy, drew praise from Al-Malki, who has the Qatar Derby on the talented colt's radar, "He went for more than I thought ... But I like the horse very much. I watched his maiden win which was very impressive in a track record." The colt's third dam is adaptable Gr1 winning filly Grease (by Filberto) who captured 10 races from 1,000 to 2,000 metres.
