Tattersalls July Day-3: Turnover up 47% from 2012

Monday, 15th July 2013

The final day of the 2013 Tattersalls July Sale in England saw 134 lots sold for 1,874,400 guineas at an average of 13,988 guineas and a median of 7,750 guineas. At the conclusion of the 3-day sale, turnover was up by a remarkable 47 per cent from 2012 to 6,970,300 guineas and the average and median both recorded generous increases of 35 per cent and 23 per cent, respectively, to 15,987 and 8,000 guineas. The final clearance rate was an excellent 87 per cent for the week. This year's sale produced more six-figure lots than any other sale since 2007. "This has been a very strong sale from start to finish," commented Tattersall's chairman Ed Mahony. "The key indicators of average, median and turnover are all significantly higher than last year, and a clearance rate hovering around 90 per cent demonstrates the strength and depth at all levels of the market."
