Fasig-Tipton July Yearling Sale: Strong Early Prices
Not since 2008 have prices been as high as they are in early sales currently underway in the US's 2013 Fasig-Tipton July Yearling sale. According to bloodstock.racingpost.com, at the halfway stage of the first session, 11 of the top-priced 20 yearlings were fillies. Top price to that point (the highest since 2008) was US$460,000 for a yearling by freshman yearling sire Desert Party (Street Cry-Sage Cat, by Tabasco Cat), a multiple graded stakes-winner who sold for US$2.1 million as a 2YO. Regis Farms was the successful bidder. Meanwhile, last year's major US broodmare buyer Mandy Pope went to US$420,000 to secure a colt by Bellamy Road (Concerto-Hurry Home Hilary, by Deputed Testimony).
