Mic Mac Heads 17 Winter Stakes Entries

Tuesday, 16th July 2013

Saturday's $100,000 Listed Winter Stakes (1400m) at Rosehill has attracted some quality nominations, headed by rejuvenated galloper Mic Mac. The Paul Messara-trained Mic Mac broke through for his first win in four years when recording an impressive victory in the Listed Civic Stakes at Rosehill at his last start. Among the other notable nominees for the race are stakes-winners Star Of Octagonal, Kontiki Park, See The World, Darci Be Good & Bold Glance. But by far the most intriguing nomination is that of the Chris Waller-trained import Bayrir (Medicean-Balankiya, by Darshaan). The French-bred 4YO simply looks to be a class above his rivals, on paper, having raced with distinction in France, the US & Hong Kong in his brief career to date. Bayrir is a Gr1 winner of the Secretariat Stakes at Arlington in the US and also boasts a Listed and Gr2 success in his native France. His most recent outing was back in December when he finished 6th behind Red Cadeaux and Jaguar Mail in the Gr1 Hong Kong Vase.
