Apprentice Jockey Makes City Debut Today

Wednesday, 17th July 2013

Promising Tamworth apprentice Melissa Brown will make her city debut when she rides 4YO mare Two Blue (Dubleo-Blue Booty, by Personal Flag) at Randwick today. The 25-year-old will continue her association with the Kristen Buchanan–trained galloper in the Casino Prince @ Vinery Handicap (1400m) for 3YO+ fillies & mares, having been aboard the mare for 2 of her 3 career victories at Newcastle & Muswellbrook. Brown's agent Michael Smith commented, "Melissa has plenty of ability and has booted home 64 winners including two at the provincials… and has already ridden a treble at Coffs Harbour." Smith explained that the 3kg-claimer would be focusing on the city and provincial circuits for the remainder of her apprenticeship.
