Japan's HBA Sale: Aggregate Finishes 10% Up

At Hokkaido in Japan, the HBA Selection Yearling Sale concluded with an aggregate of JPY1,175,135,000 (approx. US$1.2 million), up 10 per cent from last year. The average was JPY12,252,692 (approx. US$122K) & the clearance rate up from last year at 63.84%. The sale topper was lot 233, a beautifully bred colt by leading Japanese stallion King Kamehameha out of the Sunday Silence mare Azuma Sanders, winner of the Gr3 Himba Stakes. The colt was purchased by Mr Riichi Kondo at JPY48,300,000 (approx. US$475K). The next sale scheduled is the HBA Summer Sale at Shizunai from August 19-22.
