Monday, 22nd July 2013

At The Curragh in Ireland, deceased dual-Derby winning stallion & former shuttler Montjeu (Sadler's Wells-Floripedes, by Top Ville) added a Gr1 triumph (and his first success in this race) when the filly Chicquita (Montjeu-Prudenzia, by Dansili) scored by 0.5-length for trainer Alain de Royer-Dupre in the €400,000 Gr1 Irish Oaks (2400m) for 3YO fillies, over fellow fillies Venus De Milo (Duke of Marmalade-Inchmahome, by Galileo) & Just Pretending (Giant's Causeway-Moon Safari, by Mr. Prospector). Owned by Australia's Paul Makin, this was Chicquita's maiden Gr1 success and took her record to a win & 2 placings (including the Gr1 Prix de Diane at Chantilly) from 4 starts for €464,200 earnings. Watch her victory below.
