Vinery US Purchase Completes Circle For Stonestreet
The Stonestreet Training & Rehabilitation Center, formerly owned by Vinery, will move away from its traditional breeding roots to focus on training, reports ocala.com. Stonestreet, a prestigious Kentucky breeding & racing operation, purchased Vinery's 230-acre Summerfield farm last December for US$6.6 million to complement its existing thoroughbred business. Stonestreet had been one of Vinery's biggest clients for many years, sending dozens of its horses to the property for training and rehabilitation. The shift away from breeding on the property is a sign of the evolution of the industry in Ocala. While some large breeding farms have closed or moved away in recent years, the training industry has continued to grow. Two horses that are currently coming through the education program are My Miss Aurelia, the 2YO female Eclipse champion of 2011, and Samantha Nicole, a full sister to Rachel Alexandra who is preparing for her first start.
