Preakness Hero Due At Monmouth Friday

Wednesday, 24th July 2013

This year's Gr1 Preakness Stakes hero Oxbow (Awesome Again-Tizamazing, by Cee's Tizzy) will arrive at Monmouth Park on Friday ahead of Sunday's running of the US$1 million Gr1 Haskell Invitational Stakes (9 furlongs). The Calumet Farm-owned colt comes into the 3YO feature having raced with distinction in all three legs of the 3YO Triple Crown. Oxbow finished 6th in the first leg, the Kentucky Derby, prior to his victory in the Preakness, before running a gallant 2nd to Palace Malice in the Belmont Stakes at his most recent outing on June 8. Trainer D. Wayne Lucas believes the son of Adena Springs sire Awesome Again is primed for a forward showing. "He's doing very well. We're keeping him happy and we're ready," Lucas reported. Among those lining up against Oxbow this weekend will be Gr1 Wood Memorial winner Verrazano (More Than Ready), Kentucky Derby runner-up Golden Soul (Perfect Soul) & Gr1 Santa Anita Frontrunner Stakes winner Power Broker (Pulpit).
