Star 2YO Darbirsim Half-Brother Nails Maiden

Thursday, 25th July 2013

Pompilius (Holy Roman Emperor-Rumored, by Royal Academy), a half-brother to former French champion juvenile Darbirsim, broke through for his maiden win at Chantilly on Tuesday, reports bloodstock.racingpost.com. The Andre Fabre-trained 2YO colt was having his third career start after finishing in the placing in his previous outings. Pompilius is owned by Derrick Smith, Susan Magnier and Michael Tabor and was a €250,000 yearling at last year's Arqana August Yearling Sale in France. Darbirsim, a son of Japanese-bred stallion Hat Trick, was unbeaten in 5 starts as a 2YO, winning the Gr3 Prix de Cabourg, Gr1 Prix Morny & Gr1 Prix Jean-Luc Lagardere. He retired with 5 wins from 7 starts. Darbirsim will commence stud duties next year at Gestut Karlshof in Germany.
