Super Cool Begins Cox Plate Campaign

Thursday, 25th July 2013

Jockey Michael Rodd believes Gr1 Australian Cup winner Super Cool can develop into a weight-for-age force to be reckoned with this spring, reports racingnetwork.com.au. According to Rodd, the rising 4YO has returned from a spell a stronger and more mature horse and is primed for a big campaign which will include a tilt at Australasia's weight-for-age championship the WS Cox Plate. "He's grown into a nice four-year-old," commented Rodd. "He's exciting because he keeps stepping up." Super Cool will be attempting to make the transition from top 3YO to weight-for-age star, a step many young horses fail to make. However, one suspects the talented gelding will prove an exception, particularly given his own sire Fastnet Rock continued to improve with maturity. Thus far, the Mark Kavanagh-trained colt has won 4 of 9 starts for $1,205,350 earnings.
