US Gr1-winning Sire Back On Track
Desert Blanc (Desert Style-Lumiere Rouge, by Indian Ridge), winner of the Gr1 Manhattan Handicap at Belmont Park last year, is back in training after failing to attract any attention from breeders during his first season at stud, reports paulickreport.com. After suffering a tendon injury, the 5YO was sold to Haras du Hoguenet stud in France where he stood for €3,500. But after serving just three mares, the decision was made to resume his racing career which he did on Monday winning a 1200m conditions race at Compiegne. Trainer Christian Baillet told Racing Post, "He had only three mares visit him at stud so he was sent to me at the end of March. We'll look at another small race for him in August and then maybe after that a listed or a group race." Baillett went on to explain that Desert Blanc's stud career could be resurrected, if he could win "an interesting race… in the meantime."
