Orion Pleases Ahead Of 3YO Campaign

Friday, 26th July 2013

Highly-regarded youngster Orion (O'Reilly-Alzira, by Bertolini) is making good progress toward next season's prestige 3YO events, reports NZ Racing Desk. The Murray Baker and Andrew Forsman-trained colt was an impressive debut winner at his only race day appearance at Te Rapa in March. "He's coming along really well and has had a couple of gallops," commented Forsman. "We might give him and Atlante a jump-out on the course proper at Cambridge next week and perhaps It's A Dundeel as well." Orion is by New Zealand's leading sire O'Reilly from the unraced Alzira, a half-sister to Gr3-winning Think Big Stud stallion Pendragon from the Gr1 NZ Oaks winner Alacrity. Atlante (Fastnet Rock-Readyforcatherine, by More Than Ready) is an unraced 2YO colt who was a NZ$200,000 purchase at the 2012 NZB Ready To Run Sale.
