Full-Brother To Gr1 Winner Brambles On Debut

Tuesday, 30th July 2013

Saguaro (Savabeel-Prickle, by Pins), a full-brother to Gr1 Queensland Derby winner Brambles, will step out for the first time at Mornington today in the Aussie Mornington Plate (1200m) for 2YOs. The Peter Moody-trained gelding was purchased for NZ$110,000 at the 2012 NZB Yearling Sale from the draft of Anistay Lodge and will carry the well-known navy & white with gold-hoops silks of OTI Racing like his brother. Brambles, the winner of 5 from 10 starts for $574,338 in prize money, is currently on the sidelines convalescing from a tendon injury sustained earlier this year. Saguaro, like his big brother, is likely to come into his own when he steps out over ground as they both descend from a classic-producing lineage. Indeed, their third dam, Lady Aloof, is the mother of outstanding 6-time Gr1-winning filly Slight Chance (Centaine), winner of the Queensland & VRC Oaks, and dam of leading Kitchwin Hills stallion Dane Shadow.
