At York in the UK, European champion 4-time Gr1-winning former Darley shuttler Shamardal (Giant's Causeway-Helsinki, by Machiavellian) added a group success when 4YO entire Mukhadram (Shamardal-Magic Tree, by Timber Country) scored by 0.75-length for trainer William Haggas in the £100,000 Gr2 York Stakes (10 furlongs) for 3YO+, over 4YO gelding Grandeur (Verglas-Misskinta, by Desert Sun) & 6YO gelding Wigmore Hall (High Chaparral-Love And Laughter, by Theatrical). The progressive Mukhadram took his record to 4 wins (including the Gr3 Brigadier Gerard Stakes at Sandown) & 3 placings (including the Gr1 Prince of Wales's Stakes & last-start's Gr1 Coral Eclipse Stakes) from 9 starts for £262,652 earnings.
