WinStar Farm To Stand US Gr1 Winner Take Charge Indy
Gr1 winner Take Charge Indy (A.P. Indy-Take Charge Lady, by Dehere) has been retired due to injury, reports thoroughbreddailynews.com. The 4YO son of sire-of-sires A.P. Indy, who suffered a left foreleg injury in Sunday's Gr2 Monmouth Cup, will join the likes of Distorted Humor, More Than Ready, Speightstown & Tiznow at WinStar Farm in Kentucky for the 2014 breeding season. The winner of 3 of his 14 starts, including the Gr1 Florida Derby at three, Take Charge Indy is a half-brother to Gr2 winner Will Take Charge (Unbridled's Song) from the multiple Gr1-winning mare Take Charge Lady. WinStar Farm President and CEO Elliott Walden explained Take Charge Indy's outstanding pedigree was central to its decision to acquire him. "We purchased Take Charge Indy because of his gene pool… considering he might be the last great son of A.P. Indy, his mother winning three Gr1s, and he being a Gr1 winner as well, we feel he has a tremendous chance at stud." No service fee has been announced yet.
