$420,000 Debut Duo In New Season 3YO Clash

Thursday, 1st August 2013

Three-year-old debutants Happy Meteor & Order Of The Sun, who were coincidentally purchased for identical sums as yearlings, will clash in the Tab.com.au CG&E Maiden Plate (1100m) at Gosford today. Both Happy Meteor and Order Of The Sun were $420,000 yearlings, picked up at the 2012 Magic Millions Yearling Sale & the 2012 Inglis Easter Yearling Sale respectively. The Hawkes'-trained gelding Happy Meteor (Northern Meteor-Tactfully, by Flying Spur), an impressive winner of a recent barrier trial, is from the Gr3-placed mare Tactfully, a half-sister to Gr3-winner Royal Discretion (Royal Academy) & a full-sister to stakes winner Roulettes, while the beautifully bred colt Order Of The Sun (Encosta de Lago-Sequin, by Lure), trained by Gai Waterhouse, is a three-quarter brother to the very promising stakes-winning Queensland mare Risk Aversion and a half-brother to Listed Cinderella Stakes winner Get To Work (Snippets). Order Of The Sun's dam Sequin is from the Machiavellian mare Subterfuge, making her a half-sister to dual Gr1-winning Hong Kong sprinter Scintillation (Danehill), Gr2-winning Australian mare Shania Dane (Danehill) and the aforementioned Risk Aversion.
