Track Workers Homeless After Saratoga Fire
At Saratoga in the US, 32 people, including track workers, have been displaced from their homes after buildings situated in the back stretch of the racecourse caught fire, reports horseracingnation.com. Fortunately there were no injuries or deaths reported but three firefighters were sent to hospital for heat and smoke-related issues. Some of the buildings house college students during the school year but during track season they are usually home to Saratoga Race Course workers. The American Red Cross has set up a temporary shelter for the track workers (and anyone else left homeless by the fire) as they still have five weeks of the track season ahead of them. All their belongings were destroyed in the blaze.
