Bargain Buy Filly Adds To Cheveley Park Puzzle

Friday, 2nd August 2013

UK filly Valonia (Three Valleys-Descriptive, by Desert King) is proof that you don't have to spend a king's ransom to get a quality horse. The Henry Candy-trained 2YO cost only 5,500 guineas as a Tattersalls yearling but following her impressive win at Glorious Goodwood on Wednesday will be stepped up in grade and aimed at the Gr1 Cheveley Park Stakes in September. "I couldn't sell her on because nobody liked her sire," Candy told the-racehorse.com. "She was a bit of a strange-looking beast but was obviously able to run." Candy added that Valonia would have only one run before the Cheveley, "probably in the Lowther or at Ayr."
