Racegoers To See Funny Cide At Saratoga

Friday, 2nd August 2013

Marking the tenth anniversary of champion Funny Cide's 2003 victories in the Gr1 Kentucky Derby and Gr1 Preakness Stakes, Saratoga Race Course has announced "The Equine Retirement Day Salute to Funny Cide", reports bloodhorse.com. To be held on August 4, the event will include a "meet-and-greet in the paddock with trainer Barclay Tagg and his assistant Robin Smullen, as well as Jack Knowlton of owner Sackatgoa Stable". Funny Cide's jockeys Jose Santos and Richard Migliore will also be on site to sign the 1,000 posters to be distributed. Funds from the signed posters will go to the "Permanently Disabled Jockeys Fund". Of course, Funny Cide will also have his moment in the sun leading the "post parade" of the Gr1 Alfred G. Vanderbilt Handicap.
