Ferlax Pleases Ahead Of Return

Tuesday, 6th August 2013

Jockey Daniel Stackhouse says he was pleased with the work of Gr1-winning 4YO entire Ferlax (Pentire-Legs Akimbo, by Marscay) after an exhibition gallop at Moonee Valley on Saturday, reports NZ Racing Desk. The Australian Guineas winner worked between races with stablemate Clear For Action but the training exercise went awry with the latter proving a handful for Katelyn Mallyon and bolting. Ferlax recorded sectional times of 23.05 seconds for the final 400m & 11.49 seconds for the final 200m. "I thought it was a nice gallop, it was just a shame the other horse got away and he had to do work by himself," explained Stackhouse. "He needed a harder hit out than what he got, but I was happy with his action." Ferlax will resume in the Gr3 Aurie's Star Handicap (1200m) at Flemington on Saturday.
