Justin Phillip Wins US Gr1 Alfred G.Vanderbilt Stakes

At Saratoga Racecourse in the US, 5YO entire Justin Phillip (First Samurai-Ava Knowsthecode, by Cryptoclearance) scored an ironic neck victory (after a neck defeat in 2012) in the Gr1 US$240,000 Gr1 Alfred G.Vanderbilt Stakes (6 furlongs) for 3YOs+,over 4YO entires Bahamian Squall (Gone West-Midway Squall, by Storm Bird) & Gentlemen's Bet (Half Ours-Lady of Sun, by Gentlemen). This was Justin Phillip's first Gr1 success and took his record to 7 wins (including the Gr2 Woody Stephens Stakes at Belmont & Gr3 Count Fleet Sprint Handicap at Oaklawn) & 12 placings (including the Gr1 King's Bishop Stakes at Saratoga & last year's Gr1 Alfred G.Vanderbilt Stakes) from 29 starts.
