Fasig-Tipton Select: Median Soars 36%
Monday's opening night session of the Fasig-Tipton Saratoga Selected Yearling Sale at Saratoga Springs in New York closed with an aggregate of US$15,670,000, up 15 percent on last year (US$13,590,000). The average was US$313,400 compared to last year's US$261,346, an increase of 19.9 percent, while the median of US$272,500 was an impressive 36 percent higher than 2012 (US$200,000). Fasig-Tipton president Boyd Browning Jr attributed the success of the first session to several factors, including a lower number of horses catalogued and a broad range of active buyers at the sale.
