Telescope Expected To Extend Lancaster Rivals

Wednesday, 7th August 2013

Richly talented 3YO Telescope (Galileo-Velouette, by Darshaan) will be the headline act if he lines up in the Gr3 Rose Of Lancaster Stakes (10 furlongs) at Haydock on Saturday, reports sportinglife.com. The Sir Michael Stoute-trained colt, which was early favourite for the Epsom Derby but missed the classic due to injury, will be having his second start this preparation after resuming with a stunning 24-length romp in a conditions race at Leicester last month. Part-owned by recently retired Manchester United Manager Sir Alex Ferguson, the manner of Telescope's belated reappearance suggests the colt is poised to claim the Gr1 he has always promised to win. With entries in the Gr1 Juddmonte International at York on August 21 & the Gr1 Irish Champion Stakes at Leopardstown on September 7, Saturday's contest looks like the perfect stepping stone.
