Weissmuller Connections Hoping For Change Of Fortune

Wednesday, 7th August 2013

Trainer Andrew Campbell is hoping 4YO gelding Weissmuller (Handsome Ransom-Belongs in Lights, by Belong to Me) has better luck than stablemate Cauthen when he makes his Australian debut in the Lesley Viney & Colin McKnight Handicap at Flemington this Saturday, reports NZ Racing Desk. Highly regarded colt Cauthen should probably be unbeaten following an unlucky defeat at the hands of Rick Hore-Lacy's Clevadude at Moonee Valley last weekend. The son of Darci Brahma, which is being aimed at the Gr1 Caulfield Guineas, was the subject of interference that caused him to brush the running rail and yield valuable ground, costing him any chance of winning. Campbell reported that Weissmuller, winner of last season's Gr3 Wellington Stakes, was ready to resume over Saturday's distance of 1400m. "He's really happy, he's flying," commented Campbell.
