European Stars Line-Up For Britain's Champions Day
Most of Europe's best gallopers, including Toronado, Dawn Approach, Al Kazeem, Cirrus des Aigles, Intello, Lethal Force, Estimate and Sky Lantern, are among the entries for Britain's richest race day, QIPCO British Champions Day at Ascot on Saturday 19 October. British Champions Day is the climax of the British Champions Series, which comprises the 35 best flat races on the British racing calendar and takes in festivals such as Royal Ascot, Glorious Goodwood & the Ebor Festival. It showcases some of the best equine talent in the world with 5 Gr1 races on offer and over £3 million in prize money. The day's feature events are the £1.3 million Gr1 QIPCO Champion Stakes (10 furlongs), £1 million QIPCO Queen Elizabeth II Stakes (8 furlongs), £500,000 Gr1 QIPCO British Champions Fillies & Mares Stakes (12 furlongs), £350,000 Gr1 QIPCO British Champions Sprint Stakes (6 furlongs), & the £200,000 Gr1 QIPCO British Champions Long Distance Cup (16 furlongs). Other notable entries include Farhh, Declaration Of War, Camelot, Mike de Kock's South African star Soft Falling Rain, and emerging 3YOs Telescope, Hillstar & Montiridge. Rod Street, chief executive of British Champions Series Limited, commented, "We are absolutely delighted with the entries which numerically are 32 up on last year and contain nearly every top horse in Europe that would be suited to our race line-up."
