Major Battle At Top Of US Sire Premiership
More than midway through the season, the battle for supremacy on the US sires' table is proving highly competitive with only US$2,204,646 separating the Top 10 stallions. WinStar Farm's 15YO stallion Speightstown (Gone West-Silken Cat, by Storm Cat) leads the sires' premiership with progeny earnings of US$7,122,632, but he is a mere US$167,516 ahead of second-placed Malibu Moon (US$6,955,116), US$237,963 ahead of Leroidesanimaux (US$6,884,669), & just US$731,205 clear of Giant's Causeway (US$6,391,427) in fourth spot. The other Top 10 sires are Kitten's Joy (5th with US$5,864,280), Awesome Again (6th with US$5,752,511), War Front (7th with US$5,571,966), Tapit (8th with US$5,495,451), Medaglia d'Oro (9th with US$4,991,833), & Harlan's Holiday, which also resides at WinStar, rounding out the ten with US$4,917,986. In fact, the Top 40 sires all boast earnings over US$3 million, indicating a very even spread of prize money.
