Sunday's Gr1 Prix Jacques le Marois Shaping As Epic Clash
Outstanding 3YO Toronado may be a notable absentee but his arch rival, Dawn Approach, is "an intended runner" in the Gr1 Jacques le Marois at Deauville on Sunday, reports sportinglife.com. Jim Bolger's star colt is one of 16 horses remaining at the final forfeit stage in what is shaping as one of the races of the season, with French Derby winner Intello, Queen Anne Stakes winner Declaration Of War, Prix Maurice de Gheest heroine Moonlight Cloud & Prix Rothschild winner Elusive Kate all potential starters. According to Godolphin's racing manager Simon Crisford, Dawn Approach has pleased the stable since his last-start defeat and appears primed for Sunday. "Jim is very pleased with how Dawn Approach came out of the Qipco Sussex Stakes at Goodwood," Crisford commented. "If all goes well between now and Sunday, he is an intended runner in France. Dawn Approach had an easy blowout this morning and we are happy with him."
