Galileo Yearlings To Dominate Tattersalls Oct Book 1
The catalogue for Book 1 of this year's Tattersalls October Yearling Sale will feature 47 yearlings by champion sire Galileo, reports bloodstock.racingpost.com. Book 1 of Europe's premier yearling sale has attracted an outstanding catalogue of yearlings including half and full siblings to no less than 46 Gr1 winners. Last year Galileo dominated, as expected, siring the top six lots, including Hydrogen, a three-quarter brother to Derby winner Authorized which at 2,500,000 guineas was the most expensive yearling purchased anywhere in the world. Among the Galileos on offer this year will be a full-brother to the unraced Hydrogen (Galileo-Funsie, by Saumarez) & a sister to English Oaks winner Was (Galileo-Alluring Park, by Green Desert). Also catalogued is a sister to Irish 2,000 Guineas winner Roderic O'Oconnor (Galileo-Secret Garden, by Danehill) & a half-sister to National Stakes winner and sire Power. Other well related yearlings include a half-brother to Derby winner Motivator by Sea The Stars & a Lope De Vega half-sister to Sussex Stakes winner Toronado. Australian sire of the moment Exceed & Excel has 24 yearlings catalogued. Tattersalls chairman Edmond Mahony commented, "Last year's October Book 1 attracted buyers from throughout the world at all levels of the market and the 2013 catalogue looks to have all the ingredients to replicate the success of last year's sale." The Book 1 catalogue comprises 513 yearlings with the sale scheduled for October 8-10.
