First UK 2YOs For Star Greek-Bred Sprinter

Tuesday, 13th August 2013

The first runners of former top Greek-bred sprinter Ialysos will make their debuts in the UK later this week, reports bloodstock.racingpost.com. Trained by Luca Cumani for the Marinopolous family, Ialysos (So Factual-Vallota, by Polish Precedent) was retired to stud in 2010 after winning 9 of his 12 starts including the Listed Haydock Achilles Stakes and the Gr3 Sandown Sprint Stakes. Ialysos will be represented by 2YO Alisios at Yarmouth on Thursday followed by his other first crop son Tolmias at Newmarket on Friday. The colts were bred by the Marinopolous family's Figaia Stud and both are expected to run well according to Cumani's son Matt. "They're among the nicest two-year-olds we have, so they could be quite exciting," commented Cumani Jnr. "Alisios is doing really well. I think he'll be a bit green and he'll need the run, but he's a lovely looking horse."
