SAf National 2YO Sale Starts Thursday
South Africa's National 2YO Sale starts on Thursday at Germiston in Johannesburg, where it will be conducted over two days. The 'breeze-up' sale has an exceptional record, particularly when it comes to graduates that have performed on the global stage, their alumni including Irridescence, JJ The Jet Plane, Dane Julia, River Jetez, Cerise Cherry and, more recently, The Apache, whose Dubai exploits snared connections R12 million. Locally, brilliant racehorse Jackson (a R1 million National 2YO graduate) has flown the flag for the sale, winning yet another Gr1 event at the tail end of the South African season. Last year's top price was R650,000 (approximately A$72,000) for a filly by leading US sire Tapit, while the average price was R69,000 (A$7,650). This year 364 2YOs have been catalogued.
