Bart Cummings Silks Protected

Wednesday, 14th August 2013

The Australian Racing Board (ARB) has announced it has protected Bart Cummings' racing silks in recognition of the master horseman's 60th milestone as a trainer. The trainer's famous green & gold livery will be protected for the next 50 years which, under the rules governing registration of racing colours, means no one can copy the silks until 31 July, 2063, even if they are retired. Peter McGauran, Chief Executive of the ARB, commented, "Bart Cummings is an iconic figure in Australian racing who has been at the forefront of his profession across 7 decades. As Bart commences a training partnership with his grandson James Cummings, racing wants to honour him in a way especially important to him – preservation of his racing colours." Some of the great racehorses to have worn Cummings' silks include Let's Elope, Beau Zam, Leica Lover and Think Big.
