Valuable Fastnet Rock Duo On Debut
Among a host of beautifully bred first-timers stepping out at Warwick Farm today are the two valuable Fastnet Rock 3YOs Our Songbird & Swiggin. The Chris Waller-trained filly Our Songbird (Fastnet Rock-Crystal Choir, by Singspiel), which cost $330,000 at the 2012 Inglis Premier Melbourne Yearling Sale, will contest the opening race on the card, the Australian Turf Club Handicap (1300m). Owned by Segenhoe, Our Songbird is a half-sister to stakes-winning juvenile Corsaire and hails from the family of French Gr1 winners Diamond Shoal & Glint Of Gold. As for 3YO colt Swiggin (Fastnet Rock-Extra Terrestial, by Quest for Fame), he was picked up by Anthony Cummings for $350,000 from the draft of Widden Stud at the 2012 Inglis Sydney Easter Yearling Sale. Cummings was no doubt attracted to the colt because of his close affinity with his family. He not only trained Swiggin's half-brother Home On A Wing, runner-up in the Gr3 Newcastle Gold Cup, but also Gr1 winners Hotel Grand & Outback Prince who are half-brothers to Swiggin's dam, Extra Terrestial. Swiggin will line up in race two on today's 7-race card, the Tab IPhone App Handicap (1300m).
