Allandale To Stand Chinese Dragon
John and Claire Todd's NSW Hobbys Yards-based Allandale Park Thoroughbreds near Bathurst announced they will stand US-bred multiple stakes-winning Gr1-placed stallion Chinese Dragon (Stravinsky-Fabulous Fairy, by Alydar) for the 2013 breeding season. A genuine international performer with wins in Ireland and the US, Chinese Dragon won 7 of 13 starts on turf in the US, 5 of those at stakes-level, and he was stakes-performed at the ages of 3, 4 and 5. Chinese Dragon is from the family of Gr1 winners Fairy Footsteps, Light Cavalry & Royal Palace. By crack sprinter and successful sire Stravinsky (nine individual Gr1 winners), Chinese Dragon initially stood at Goodwood Park Stud in New Zealand where his first yearlings were well received, selling to NZ$80,000 at Karaka. This demand was underlined by the NZ$120,000 paid for a Chinese Dragon 2YO at the NZ Ready-To-Run Sale by Singapore's Shane Baertschiger. His initial runners include stakes-winner Serpent. In a deal brokered by Gavelhouse, Chinese Dragon, who retired with 7 wins & 3 placings from 13 starts (8 of them in stakes events) will stand his first Australian season for $4,400.
