Moe To Reopen February Next Year

Thursday, 15th August 2013

The reopening of the Moe racetrack has been postponed for a period of three months to ensure its long-term future is protected. Racing at the track, which has undergone a $4.5 million reconstruction including the installation of a state-of-the-art StrathAyr turf track, was to resume in November. However, Racing Victoria (RV), Country Racing Victoria (CRV) & the Moe Racing Club (MRC) have announced a new date of 18 February 2014 to allow the track to consolidate over the summer months. RV Chief Executive, Bernard Saundry, explained the cautious approach would pay significant dividends for the industry and local community in the long run. "The Moe Racing Club, State Government and the Victorian Racing Industry have made a significant investment in developing a state-of-the-art track that will become a major asset for Victorian racing and the local community for many years to come," said Saundry. "By allowing the track time to consolidate over the summer months and now resume racing in February, we are collectively protecting the long term future of the track and ensuring that it's in absolute prime condition for the safe and successful resumption of racing."
