Injury Rules Oxbow Out For Rest Of Year

Monday, 19th August 2013

Trainer D. Wayne Lukas has confirmed that Preakness Stakes winner Oxbow (Awesome Again-Tizamazing, by Cee's Tizzy) will not race again this year, reports bloodhorse.com. The Calumet Farm-owned 3YO suffered an ankle injury in the Gr1 Haskell Invitational on July 27 that has forced him to miss a number of elite races including the Travers on August 24. "I don't want to push him. He has done a lot for us," Lukas commented. Oxbow has established himself as one of the best 3YOs in the US, with his Preakness win followed up with a 2nd to Palace Malice in the Belmont Stakes and a brave last-start 4th in the Haskell when sustaining his injury. His record currently stands at 3 wins & 3 placings from 13 starts for US$1,243,500 earnings.
