Kasim Claims Asian Young Guns Challenge

Singapore's Harry Kasim has won the 2013 Asian Young Guns Challenge Series staged at Waikato Racing Club on Saturday. Singapore's leading apprentice accepted the invitation to represent Singapore in the 5th edition of the Challenge, an invitation-only event for Asia and Oceania's best apprentice jockeys. Eight international and two New Zealand riders participated in this year's event, with Japan, Hong Kong, Singapore, South Africa, Malaysia, Korea, Macau & Australia all represented. The series was decided on points earned across three races with Kasim emerging victorious with 42 points, 10 points clear of New Zealand's leading apprentice Rory Hutchings and South Africa's Julius Mariba, both of whom finished on 32 points.
